CONGRESSMAN GOOD OPPOSES THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT

August 12, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Bob Good (VA-05) voted against H.R. 5376, the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, today and issued the following statement:

“This economically reckless ‘Inflation and IRS Expansion Act’ will raise taxes, increase energy prices, create a slush fund for alternative ‘green’ energy companies, and expand Obamacare subsidies. Even worse, it further weaponizes Washington against the American people by doubling the size of the IRS – adding 87,000 new agents to target hardworking Americans via increased taxation and more aggressive enforcement,” said Congressman Good.

“Speaker Pelosi hurriedly called us back to Washington because she knows Build Back Bankrupt 2.0 would not stand up to scrutiny by the American people if they waited till after Labor Day to vote on it. Meanwhile, there is an invasion on our Southern Border. The price of food, clothing and rent is still on the rise. Our military is suffering a recruiting crisis because of mandates and misplaced priorities. And, our kids are being sent back to schools who are more concerned about indoctrination than excellent education.”

“It’s bad enough that President Biden and the Democrats in Congress are completely out-of-touch, but their radical agenda is going to further punish Americans who are suffering under their policies.”
