Rep. Good Brings Accountability to Federal Agencies
WASHINGTON – As part of his series of legislation to cut government waste, Congressman Bob Good introduced the All Economic Regulations are Transparent (ALERT) Act. The ALERT Act would require a monthly update from executive agencies with detailed information about any rules that they are working on.
“Transparency in the federal regulatory process is essential to a healthy republic. Career bureaucrats must be held accountable and prevented from pseudo-legislating from their agency desks,” said Congressman Bob Good. “As federal regulations pile up, our economy is stifled and the American taxpayers are hit with the cost. My legislation would hold federal agencies accountable by making the regulatory process more transparent and easier to understand for hardworking Americans.”
The Alert Act would require the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) to issue an annual report detailing the cumulative costs of all rules that have been proposed or finalized during the previous 12 months.
