Rep. Good Introduces Iran China Accountability Act

May 21, 2021

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Bob Good (VA-05) introduced the Iran China Accountability Act, which aims to prevent another nuclear deal between the United States and Iran. The Iran China Accountability Act blocks any taxpayer dollars from being used to advance a nuclear agreement with Iran until Iran has terminated its cash ties with China and requires Iran to terminate its ties to terrorist groups like Hamas. In addition, the bill requires Iran to destroy all its nuclear and missile capabilities and infrastructure before any nuclear agreement is advanced.

“As the only true democracy in the Middle East, the United States must support Israel and its right to defend itself against terrorist attacks by Hamas. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration appears desperate to re-enter the Iran Nuclear Deal, which would put America last and embolden authoritarian regimes like Iran and China” said Congressman Bob Good. “To combat this effort, I introduced legislation that holds the Chinese Communist Party accountable and ensures the U.S. avoids another disastrous nuclear deal with Iran.”

“The Zionist Organization of America, the oldest and one of the largest pro-Israel groups in the USA, strongly supports the Iran-China Accountability Act and commends Rep. Good for introducing it.  It addresses the two most salient facts about the current crisis in the Middle East: Iran is behind the violence initiated by the terrorist group Hamas, and China is a major geopolitical ally of Iran. The act will take effective action to punish both states which directly and indirectly support terror. Appropriately, it puts the focus on the Iran nuclear deal, which is the biggest threat to the region and the world. Even if calm is restored to Gaza, Iran cannot be allowed to achieve a military nuclear capability. ”Dan Pollak, Zionist Organization of America

In March, Iran and China sought to strengthen their relationship by signing a 25-year, $400 billion dollar cooperation agreement. At the end of April, the Biden Administration met with representatives of the Iranian government to discuss a renewed nuclear agreement. In May, the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hamas began firing thousands of missiles at the sovereign state of Israel.
